However, negotiations are time-consuming and require considerable human and financial resources. Negotiations are much about human relations. You need empathy and networks besides knowledge and creativity.

When you are at the negotiating table, many stakeholders are sitting at neighbouring tables, waiting for you to negotiate with them.

It may be that negotiations must be conducted first at the neighbouring tables if you want to be successful at the main table.

A negotiation is successful if everyone involved crosses the finish line, and that includes your counterparts.
